Why PacketExchange

Wholesale voice, SMS and numbers. One account. Pay as you go.

Buy routes, sell your own, rent numbers, run a dialer, deploy AI voice agents and operate your own switch from one account and one prepaid balance. No licence, no minimum commitment and nothing to cancel, and the Switch is a monthly plan. We took the overhead out of running a carrier business, and the saving is in your price.

The cost base

Your margin is paying for someone else's overheads.

We are not fighting you for the last hundredth of a cent on a minute. We took a hatchet to the cost of operating the platform, and the saving is in your price.

Delivering a wholesale minute costs two things: the carrier who terminates it, and the platform that routes, rates and settles it. Everything else on a legacy bill is overhead - the licence renewed each year, the floor you pay in a quiet month, the consultants who set it up, the team watching screens overnight, the ticket queue between you and every new interconnect. None of it completes a call, and all of it comes out of your margin.

So we replaced each one with software. Provisioning that needs no ticket. Monitoring that needs no night shift. Onboarding that needs no consultant. Billing that needs no invoice run. Rate decks that nobody has to retype. Each of those used to be a salary, a licence fee or a change window. Now it is automation that costs almost nothing to run.

That is how the price comes down without squeezing a single carrier's rate.

2%

Two per cent of the route rate through our API or Dialer, 0.5% over your own SIP trunk, and never more than a tenth of a cent per call either way. A flat per-call fee punishes short calls to low-cost destinations, which is most of wholesale voice, so we do not charge one.

Line by line

Annual platform licence
Legacy platforms: Paid up front every year, whether you carry a minute or not, with maintenance charged on top.
PacketExchangeNone. The marketplace and the API have no licence to buy, and the Switch is a monthly plan, not an annual licence.
Switching hardware
Legacy platforms: Servers, session border controllers and software licences to buy, rack, patch and replace.
PacketExchangeNothing to rack. The Switch is hosted, so the boxes, the licences and the upkeep leave the business.
End-of-month reporting
Legacy platforms: Margin and settlement pieced together from exports after the month has closed.
PacketExchangeTraffic, margin and settlement in one live view, updated as each call completes.
Minimum commitment
Legacy platforms: A monthly floor you pay through quiet months, negotiated before you know your own volumes.
PacketExchangeNone on the marketplace. Top up from five dollars and pay for the traffic you send.
Implementation project
Legacy platforms: Weeks of professional services before the first call, billed by the day.
PacketExchangeSign up and list a route the same afternoon, straight from the rate sheet you already have.
Sales cycle
Legacy platforms: A demo, a proposal, a procurement round, a contract.
PacketExchangeNo sales call required. An invite code brings up to $50 of test credit, so you can try the API on test keys before you fund anything.
NOC headcount
Legacy platforms: People watching dashboards through the night so a dead supplier is noticed by morning.
PacketExchangeSupplier reachability, CPS and capacity are monitored around the clock, and a supplier that stops answering is flagged without anyone watching a screen. In a Switch route group, calls roll on to the next supplier.
Firewall and SIP onboarding
Legacy platforms: A ticket to network operations for every new counterparty IP, then a change window.
PacketExchangeAdd a counterparty in the dashboard and they are authorised at the SIP layer automatically. No firewall change, no ticket.
Cancellation
Legacy platforms: Notice periods and termination fees.
PacketExchangeStop trading whenever you like. Marketplace and API use has no contract to cancel.

The automated core

A core that runs itself, so your team can sell.

Each line below used to be someone's job or a vendor's invoice. Now it runs on its own, around the clock.

Automated firewall provisioning

The edge pulls a provisioning snapshot and rewrites its own carrier IP-auth and credential tables. Onboard a carrier in the dashboard and they can send traffic, with no infrastructure change on either side.

24/7 supplier monitoring

Reachability, concurrent capacity and CPS are watched and enforced continuously. A supplier that stops answering is flagged, and in a Switch route group the call rolls on to the next supplier instead of failing.

Every call rated on its CDR

Each call is rated and booked to both sides of the ledger the moment it ends, not saved up for an invoice run. Marketplace buyers pay from a prepaid balance, so a seller never extends credit to a buyer they have never met.

Automatic rate deck ingestion

Upload the rate sheet your carrier sent you, in whatever layout it arrived in. The columns are recognised for you, and the deck is compared with what is live before anything changes.

Fraud and anomaly detection

Anomaly scoring learned from your own CDR history screens calls and messages placed through the API, and per-customer blocked prefixes and CPS limits are enforced on every call.

Automatic A-Z splitting

One A-Z upload becomes per-country listings on the marketplace, or per-carrier if you choose, so buyers find the destination they want instead of scrolling a bundle.

What is new

Plus tools a legacy platform cannot give you.

Cutting cost is half of it. The other half is what a platform built this decade can do that a licence-and-implementation product cannot.

An open marketplace

Rates fall when everyone can see them.

In a bilateral market you get the rate your relationships earn you. On an open marketplace every seller quotes into the same view, destination by destination, with the quality they state beside the rate, so the price moves toward the real cost of carrying the traffic.

Demand arrives from every market rather than from one carrier's footprint, and a seller anywhere can reach a buyer anywhere without either of them having heard of the other first.

You do not have to take a seller's word for it. Test the route's caller ID on real handsets, read the call records of your own traffic on every route you buy, and raise a route issue whose fix is re-tested automatically.

Built to be automated

Every product here has an API behind it.

Not an export and an FTP drop. A documented REST API with scoped keys, idempotent money-moving requests, signed webhooks and usage stats per key, covering routes, numbers, interconnections, billing and CDRs. Test keys have their own prefix, so nothing you try can place a real call.

Scoped API keys

Least privilege on routes, numbers, IPs, interconnections and billing.

Idempotency

Send X-Idempotency-Key on a money-moving request and a retry never places a second call or takes a second charge.

Webhooks

Sends, completed calls and inbound messages pushed to you signed, with a delivery log and resend.

Sandbox keys

A separate key prefix that checks routing and rates without touching real telephony.

MCP endpoint

Your whole account, available to an AI client over SSE.

Start trading

Cheaper, faster and simpler, for the same reason.

It costs less because the overhead is gone. It is faster because nothing waits on a person. It is simpler because you can test a route before you commit to anything. Start with five dollars and a rate sheet.
